The Classes

Known for its small classes and personalized attention, The Front offers yoga and Pilates classes for both members and day guests.  New members, as well as drop-ins, are always welcome.  Front membership includes unlimited yoga classes.

Yoga at The Front is an excellent choice for beginners as well as more advanced individuals.  The beginning classes offer a non-competitive environment that is conducive to learning and expanding ones ability.

Class attendance also includes full access to the aerobic and weight equipment.  Enjoy just the Yoga and Pilates classes, or include them in a full workout.  Either way, you'll find yoga at The Front comfortable and inviting.

The Basics

All classes are held in our private wood-floored studio.  Participants have full access to our locker rooms, showers, and to our weight and aerobic equipment.

Beginning classes require no previous experience; all fitness levels are welcome. Students are encouraged to come on an empty stomach, hydrated, and with an open heart and mind. Please arrive at least 5 minutes before class is scheduled to begin. Wear comfortable clothes that are not baggy around the knees (shorts and a t-shirt or leotard and footless tights are good options).

Anusara Yoga:

Anusara-style Hatha yoga is a powerful, openhearted practice that increases stamina, strength, flexibility, endurance, and overall health. Hatha yoga is a highly effective tool for improving physical alignment and energy flow. It is an opportunity to cultivate greater awareness of ourselves while emphasizing the union of mind, body, and spirit.

Classes include poses (asana), flow of poses (vinyasa) and brief periods of meditation. Some classes may also include pranayama, or breathing practices. Students are encouraged to be adventurous and discover their edge while acknowledging their limitations and increasing self-compassion. Classes are taught in a supportive, non-competitive environment.

Ashtanga Yoga:

A powerful yoga practice that results in increased focus and energy levels, toned, flexible bodies, and peace of mind. Ashtanga is a traditional and ancient form of yoga that combines breath and movement in a sequence of postures (vinyasa system). The sequence of postures is designed to tone and stretch all muscles while purifying and cleansing the body. The practice emphasizes a focus on deep meditative breathing (ujjayi pranayama and bandhas), postures (asanas), and gazing points (dristis). Yoga is a powerful healing tool and helps prevent injury. Regular practice leads to a deeper awareness of our true self, strong supple bodies, and a calm centered mind.

Basic Essentials Yoga:

Is a non-traditional yoga that is based around helping individuals find comfort in their own body by explaining poses step by step. This class is ideal for people who want to try yoga but have hesitated because they "are not flexible", and also for those who want to take their ability to the next level. Class will be based around students needs.

Children's Yoga:

Teaches basic yoga poses in a playful,
non-competitive environment, enhancing coordination,
strength, and flexibility.  A great opportunity for
keeping kids active during summer break.  Ideal for
ages 4-10 years.

Pilates:

Pilates is a conditioning program that improves muscle control, flexibility, coordination, strength, and tone.  Each exercise is designed to stretch and strengthen the muscles involved, opening the joints and releasing tension.

Pilates bonds body and minds through two principal components: posture and breathing. By centering on the abdomen, Pilates strengthens the muscles in the back, hips, and stomach to support the spine. The method works the deepest layer of abdominal muscles. It lifts the belly and backend while it tones and strengthens all the other muscles.
